Improving Recruitment Efficiency: Analyzing Candidates' CVs and Skills
The following solution was proposed for a Recruitment tech Platform. This is just a part of the Recruiters' journey to select submitted candidates for a job vacancy. The idea was to facilitate for the Recruiter to make good choices by selecting and analyzing candidates to finding all the information needed in less time.
My role
-
UX Research (interviews and usability testing with recruiters);
-
Wireframes & UI Design;
-
Prototyping in Figma;
-
Handoff to developers;
Problem
-
Recruiters reported difficulty analyzing candidate profiles efficiently;
-
Usability issues led to frequent questions to Customer Support;
-
Lack of clear feedback for candidates, creating frustration on both sides;
Results
-
Improved recruiter efficiency, enabling faster candidate evaluations and quicker feedback cycles.
-
Received organic positive feedback from both recruiters and candidates regarding the improved speed of applications and responses.
-
Reduced the average time to analyze candidate information by around 30% per application.
-
Clearer interface and navigation also contributed to a noticeable decrease in repetitive support requests.

Analysis and observation
By observing the user behavior in Hotjar and the metrics we notice:
-
the recruiter user was spending a long time scrolling, opening and closing each candidate to read all the information;
-
the recruiter user was not analyzing or not finding important points in the candidate’s profile. And Sometimes they were asking “silly” questions to the Customer Support about it.
-
the recruiter user wasn’t giving feedback to candidates who applied for the job vacancy. And this was generating a bad experience for the candidates who were waiting for a response.
-
this experience of spending a long time analyzing candidates made the recruiters tired, and because of that they make poor decisions or do not find good candidates to fill the company's needs.
Problem
How to optimize the analysis of recruiters in the candidate management platform?
Interviewing recruiters
To understand the pain points in the User Journey, we decide to talk with recruiters who use the platform using the Semi-structured Interview method. We asked some questions about their recruitment process, about their experience in the platform, their general opinion about the interface, their difficulties, and what functionalities they liked. Then, some of their words give us insights:
Sometimes it's difficult to find fast an information. I have to scroll all page to access something. I usually close the tabs to go directly where I want"
"The Candidate's informations is very complete! We can choose the candidate with a real match to our company"
"Would be nice to reprove or aprove more the one candidate at the same time."
"I usually open two tabs to compare candidates."
Prototyping
These were the first sketches to try to reach the solution. In this time we were still having doubts in how to organize the information. So we kept talking with the users to prioritize the candidate's data needed.
Hierarchy information:
1 - Name
2 - Main Stack
3 - Salary Expectation
4 - Location
5 - Challenges completed
6 - % Profile filled
7 - Profile info

Second release
Our commitment to delivering an outstanding user experience means that we are constantly tracking user behavior using tools like Hotjar, heat maps, and recruiter feedback. Through this ongoing research, we identified areas where the visual design was causing unnecessary competition and confusion for users. As a result, we took steps to simplify the presentation of information to make it easier for recruiters to quickly identify the data they need. By continuously monitoring user behavior and feedback, we ensure that our products are always optimized to meet the needs of our users.

*The focus of this solution was for a Desktop version. 98,9% of this platform's user use desktop device to analyse candidates.
